Romans 12:1-2 (KJV)  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

(AMP)  I APPEAL to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].

What is a Consecration?
What does it mean to be
consecrated
?

The word consecrate is used two times in the New Testament.  Both times it is used in connection with Jesus.  Both Greek words clearly describes the life of Jesus as one which was totally surrendered to God the Father to solely fulfill His will.

An adequate synonym of consecrate is the word inaugurate.  To be inaugurated is to be sworn in or established in an office for the purpose of carrying out an assignment given in writing by another.  Jesus was inaugurated before the foundations of the world to be God’s sacrificial substitute for sinful man.  The purpose of God was spoken by prophets and recorded in the Scriptures from Genesis to Malachi.  He was established in his priestly office to be Christ the Lord.

By implication, the one who is inaugurated, is renewed or infused with all that is needed to operated in the full potential of the office.  To be consecrated is literally to be authorized and empowered to fully carryout the will of another— thus requiring the one who is consecrated to be dedicated.  Jesus was dedicated to consummate, complete, accomplish, finish, fulfill, or make perfect His Father’s will.  He especially proved this in the Garden of Gethsemene when He prayed three times “nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.”  Each time that He prayed, He was renewing His commitment to doing the Father’s will.  Spending time in prayer concerning the Father’s will and rededicating ourselves to His will is the essence of a consecration.  Deliberately pursuing the Father’s will in our daily walk and in our direction in life is the essence of being consecrated.

Clearly, the Believer’s Consecrated Life is seen in Romans 12:1-2.  We are called on to present our bodies as a living sacrifice which is holy (exclusively used by God) and acceptable to God for the purpose of proving that God’s will is good, acceptable, and perfect.

The purpose of any time spent Seeking the Lord is to pray for the PERFECT WILL OF GOD to be done in our church, in our personal walk with God, in our families, and in our finances.  The SEED of your Time and Attention will yield a harvest of His Presence.  The SEED of your Giving will yield a harvest of His Favor.
